Life at the Inn

Just Ridin' Inn, L.L.C.,  Bed and Breakfast and Barn, just 4 miles south of beautiful Lake Minnewaska and Starbuck, MN is truly "Your Stable Away From Home".  We opened our doors April 15, 2009.

                                                The Dream

Just Ridin' Inn is the dream of a horsewoman who can no longer ride.

Since spinal injuries resulting from falling off horses made riding a horse just a fond memory, I have long had the desire to drive a team and live where I could continue to make horses a central part of my life.  But without a home where I had the roads and quiet open spaces to enjoy a surrey team, it was still just a longing.  Then this beautiful old farmstead came available south of Starbuck and the rest of the dream just stampeded into being.

My mother, Bernice Hanson Anthony was born just 5 miles from this farm.  Her brother, Leland Hanson talks about hunting this area and going away to WWII with the son of the family who farmed this land in the 30's and 40's.  The spirits of my hardy Norwegian ancestors inspire me to provide for others a chance to experience the peace and beauty of these Minnesota glacial moraines as they enjoy the pleasure of a horseback ride in the countryside or just lounging with a good book as the prairie breezes tease their senses.

Our emphasis is on presenting unique bed and breakfast accommodations for all of our guests, horses, their people and for country loving people who are mobility impaired.

Our company was established in 2007 and we have been remodeling a lovely old farmstead to be able to provide accommodations that will conscientiously serve both the equestrian and mobility impaired community. We specialize in serving a European Sideboard Breakfast. This feast is a version of the Scandinavian Smorgasbord enhanced with foods more familiar to the Germans, Italians and French farther South in Europe. Bed linens are the European Style Personal Duvet Bedding where each person has an individual comforter rather than a shared blanket. A concrete ramp provides access to the bedroom and half bath reserved for the mobility impaired.  An outdoor, mosquito netted pavilion provides a Bar-B-Q so guests can prepare their own meals if they wish. Horse safe fencing, stalls and a pasture as large as a driving-size arena are designed for security, safety and enjoyment. Our aim is to be the premier stop-over for those traveling with horses, a beautiful end-destination for equestrians, outdoor lovers of all kinds and an entertaining and enjoyable place for anyone who's mobility is handicapped.  The grounds and pavilion are available for your special events as well.

Our Inn is still under construction so these photographs do not show the finished pavilion. Use your imagination to envision the far left edge of the octogon with a big BBQ. The table will be a large round one with benches all around and the whole thing will be covered by a gazebo with mosquito netting fluttering in the breeze. Then imagine you sitting over a big sizzling steak.  Get the picture? Take a look below.

Our business will be open from mid March to Mid October each year beginning in 2009.  You can find Just Ridin' Inn, Bed and Breakfast and Barn 5 miles south of Starbuck on 310th Avenue, 1/4 mile off Hiway 29, located at 24569  310th Avenue, Starbuck, MN  56381.
